An official ribbon cutting ceremony at Hawaiian's Bassendean shopping centre on Sunday declared the centre officially open for business after 13 months of hard work by WA based property group Hawaiian.
The refurbishments to the centre include an overall expansion, a flat car park, new stores including The Reject Shop, a Dome Cafe that incorporates a historic Bassendean railway carriage and a fully refurbished Coles supermarket.
"The face of Bassendean is rapidly changing and Hawaiian is very proud to be a part of its regeneration," Hawaiian CEIO Russell Gibbs said.
"We think the people of Bassendean and surrounding suburbs will really like the improvements and additions we've made to the centre to create a community meeting place.
"We have also worked hard to preserve the history of the centre to make it an attractive place for locals to spend time in."
The grand opening celebrations saw hundreds of locals come down to the centre to partake in a massive market day with food and craft stalls, bands and puppet making workshops.
